French IT giant Capgemini sells subsidiary after row over ICE links
French IT giant Capgemini said on Saturday it was selling its US subsidiary to an American company after the unit came under pressure for its work for the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
Tasked with enforcing US President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, ICE's heavily armed agents have faced nationwide backlash for aggressive tactics and for the shooting deaths of two US citizens earlier this year in Minneapolis.
Capgemini said it had entered into an agreement with ITC Federal, a US IT solutions and enterprise services provider to federal law enforcement, homeland security and defence agencies, for the sale of Capgemini Government Solutions.
"This transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks," the company said in a statement.
The subsidiary, Capgemini Government Solutions, represented 0.4 percent of the group's global 2025 revenue and less than two percent of its US revenue, according to the company.
Capgemini announced in February that it was putting the subsidiary up for sale following controversy sparked by the disclosure of a contract to provide ICE with a tool designed to identify and locate foreign nationals.
Capgemini operates in about 50 countries and is one of France's largest listed companies.
